Feeling better now...

Thanks to everyone for hugs, phone calls and niceness! I have had a couple of good nights sleep, Colin is officially 'getting better' (the hospital says so! It must be true right?!) and I have declared this the week of doing whatever I want!
Which is sewing actually. And no housework, and as soon as Colin's hands are better no more bloody washing up either...
Anyway - sewing! I am currently making a new top which is the first part of the first new outfit I have planned. Both outfits are larp costume. I don't need either of them. I don't care. I've cleared out a box for dress up clothes and I'm now going to populate it with clothes :D
Current outfit will be similar to Rose's gear in that it is the same top (why waste the pattern?!) and the skirt will probably be constructed on a similar deign to Rose's skirt although it will actually have a waistband and zip if I can manage them! I'm also going to locate a bodice/corset pattern (I have a very specific one in mind) and attempt that. The skirt is going to be dark red, the bodice brown and it's all going to be trimmed with ribbon. Girly girl stuff :D
The next outfit will be more of a challenge. In my head I have a design for a coat/robe thing. I can see it very clearly and I want one! No pattern for this, I will be making the pattern from scratch so I forsee the cats spending a lot of time exploring the great outdoors next week, while I wrestle with tissue paper, maths and my temper! I also plan to make a simple pair of wide leg trousers and possibly a shirt of some description. Although I do have a shirt that will go so I may not. It pretty much depends on how the robe turns out!
I'm going to be playing with dying fabric, interesting trims and possibly embroidery. It depends on what else I have on and what I think the outfits need in terms of decoration.
Valentines cloak is more or less sewn which is good. I think it's turned out really well so far. Andrew is coming round next week at some point so I can pin the hem, then it's all done. Sewing the clasp on was a smidge tricky as I was sewing between layers. It looks neat and I'm pleased with that but I stabbed myself several times with the needle in the process which was a lot less pleasing! As with everything it's all about the learning right?
My sister is coming down on Friday (bother - housework involved there, she's probably going to expect a bed made up to sleep in...) and we are going to Fabric Land in Bristol to look for a ball gown pattern and fabric for her. I'm then going to attempt to make her a dress! I should probably look at patterns for myself as well really, I think I'm likely to be going to the same event! The good news is it's not til December. Yes, we are making the dress early! This is for two reasons. One - if I mess it up this gives ample time to fix it... Two - we are used to working to my mothers dress making time scale, and working with that, this is practically a rush job!
Colin is looking better and can hug me again and is also getting on with jobs because he's too bored to stay in bed! I call that a win on all three counts! He doesn't have to go to hospital on friday unless he gets worse again, so hopefully just one more hospital visit then back to work.
In other news... Not much! Role-playwise Rose is cheerfully throwing herself into any downtime that comes her way (and getting herself into trouble in the process). Mia continues to be awesome, and appears to be developing a well honed sarcasm ray and the sulks to match her raging kleptomania. Roleplay is starting to happen more naturally as the characters get to know each other and we as players lose our self-consciousness and get into it! The barbarian mini-campaign was fun, though I didn't feel I roleplayed anything particularly well and I really need to work on attacking people. I don't like it, so I feel like I'm hesitating way too much! I also need to work on the maths really, I'm still not very good at it and I think I'm apt to die a bit too quickly, but hopefully both these things are things I can overcome!
I've played badminton recently and my racquet really has died so I needed to either get the handle rebound or bite the bullet and buy a new raquet. This is probably the more sensible course of action, but I will be very sad if I do that! I've had that raquet for 12 years and I really like its feel, design and handling. Still, all good things come to an end, right?
I've also been lucky enough to have some nice evenings with friends, either at their houses or round here. I love you all! Thank-you for putting up with my emo-ness when I'm down and my extreme silliness when I'm not! My kittens have also been very cuddly of late and their first adventures into the big wide world of outdoors have been both adorable and hilarious. They are alternately bold then scared the silly little muppets! Aphrodite rushes out and then realises the weather is nasty. She doesn't mind as much as Athena who is developing a tendency to hide under the sofa if it's raining... But they have both discovered the joys of climbing the wall and disappearing off to have adventures. I'm sure at some point I'll be brave enough to leave the doorway and let them get on with it but I am still a little over protective of my babies right now!
I will post about the Brownie Bake-Off later but right now I need to go cuddle my kittens and then cook dinner.
