Help Please?

Does anyone know what it means to 'baste' something in a sewing pattern?  Please help because I'm useless at technical terms!

It's a bit like tacking, iirc. Basically rough stitching with cheap thread to hold bits together while doing the real sewing.

Fabulous! Thank-you! I'm tempted to rush back to the sewing machine and carry on but I think I've done enough for one night :)

S'ok, I'm not doing anything else for a while much as I'd like to. :( My eyes are starting to itch which is usually a sign that it's a good time to stop doing stuff and go to bed. So as soon as Colin has finished his ironing and I can get in the bedroom I think I shall! :)

You cook the item in it's own juices and hope that by morning you have the perfect dress...

What do you mean I'm not helping?

Lol! I'd be worried if it turned into the perfect dress... I'm sewing a cloak! ;)

Thanks for the link!
